Law enforcement officers convicted the president of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine in receiving an illegal benefit for including a person in the list of candidates for the replacement of vacancies for academicians, the press service of the National Police of Ukraine reports.
"Law enforcers established that the official contributed to the inclusion of a person in the list of applicants for the replacement of vacancies for academicians and the further transfer of relevant materials for consideration by the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences. For his help, the suspect received a "thank you" — an elite SUV," said a message on the police website.
Now the investigators informed the president of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine about the suspicion of committing an offense under part 3 of Article 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect, as well as the notification of suspicion to other defendants involved in the offense is being resolved.
It should be noted that Yaroslav Gadzalo has been the president of NAAS since 2013.
