The mayor of Boryspil died of coronavirus: the city will hold elections again

The acting mayor of Boryspil, Anatoly Fedorchuk, who ran for a new term, died of the coronavirus. Now the city will have to hold new elections.

Olga Aivazovskaya, head of the civil network OPORA, told about this. transmits RBK-Ukraine.

"If a candidate dies before the results are established, he is considered to have dropped out. There, as far as I understand, the city is more than 75 thousand. In this case, repeat elections should be announced in Boryspil. They did not take place. Item 7 of Part 1 of Article 280 of the Election Code," Aivazovskaya said.

In turn, the "Nash Kray" party, from which Fedorchuk ran for office, announced that he was in the lead in the elections for the mayor of Boryspil.

According to the Boryspol TV channel, Fedorchuk and his wife contracted the coronavirus about three weeks ago. He needed oxygen therapy. On October 28, his heart stopped due to complications caused by the coronavirus.
