Employees of the cyber police exposed Ukrainian hackers who, with the help of virus software, carried out massive interventions in the work of servers of private and public institutions in Europe and the United States of America.

In particular, as a result of such "activity" banks suffered losses of 2,5 billion dollars. Perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison.
"Since 2014, a group of hackers from Ukraine, using malicious software - the so-called encryption virus ("bank trojan"), designed to steal personal data - passwords, logins and payment data - carried out mass interference in the work of servers of private and state banking institutions Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Lithuania and the USA," the press center reported.
According to law enforcement officials, the infrastructure of "EMOTET" included servers located around the world and was actually a BOT network. The "virus" was spread through spam mailings, through Word, Excel documents, etc. The emails looked like a warning about the security of the account, an invitation to a party, and even a warning against the spread of Covid-19.
"Having penetrated the software, the virus used "infected" equipment for further distribution, and also installed additional viruses on the device," law enforcement officials say.
As a result, the malicious software protected users' personal data, including passwords, logins, browser history, payment and bank data. In the future, the perpetrators transferred the money to their controlled accounts.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers exposed two citizens of Ukraine, who ensured the proper operation of the infrastructure for the spread of the virus and supported its uninterrupted activity..jpg)
"Cyberpolice, together with law enforcement officers of foreign states, simultaneously conducted searches on the territory of Ukraine, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Lithuania, Canada, the United States and Great Britain," the police added.
As a result, server equipment, computer equipment, information carriers containing information about companies that were subjected to cyberattacks were seized. Bank cards, money, "draft" records with passwords, logins and keys to encrypted services were also seized.
Currently, the activity of the "EMOTET" bot network, which was located on more than 90 servers in different countries of the world, is completely blocked.
