The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny and the Head of the State Government of Ukraine Kyryll Budanov. This is stated in the decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, published on the official website of the head of state.
General Valery Zaluzhny was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Golden Star Order.
"For remarkable personal merits in the protection of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people, I decree: confer the title of Hero of Ukraine with the awarding of the Order of the Golden Star to General Zaluzhny Valery Fedorovych." — said in the document.
Another decree the title of Hero of Ukraine was awarded to the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyryl Budanov.
He received the highest award "for personal courage and heroism, shown in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people."
"To confer the title of Hero of Ukraine with the awarding of the Order of the Golden Star to Lieutenant-General Kirill Oleksiyovych Budanov" — is added in the decree.
President of Ukraine posted a video award ceremony of Zaluzhny and Budanov.
"Today we celebrate with state awards and the title of Hero of Ukraine the soldiers who, together with all those who stood up for the defense of our state and Ukrainian life, determine the fate of Ukraine. Ukraine has already been able to stop Russia. Ukraine has learned to defend its own exactly the way it needs to in order to win. And we have to go all this way exactly as it is necessary to achieve Ukrainian goals," — he signed the footage.
