Today, April 21, the dismantling of the Glory Monument began in Lviv on Stryjska Street. This is reported by the publication Your city.
It is reported that the Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes should take the remains of the monument to the Territory of Terror.
After dismantling, an architectural competition will be announced for the best design proposal for the development of the territory bounded by Stryyskaya, Heroev Maidan, Vytovsky and Franko streets.
A memorial in honor of the Ukrainian soldier should be built on the site of the dismantled monument. For this, an architectural competition will be announced in Lviv.
"This should be a public space that will show the position of Ukraine, the position of common sense. The space will be a thank you to the participants in the military actions that are protecting Ukraine today," said Deputy Mayor of Lviv Andriy Moskalenko.
Public activist Anton Petrivskyi, who was the initiator of the dismantling of the Glory Memorial, explains that such a monument should not stand near the Academy of Ground Forces, and therefore it must be dismantled.
"This is a pseudo-monument depicting a Red Army soldier who kills a soldier of the UNR, located a few tens of meters from the National Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Sahaidachny," says the activist.
