The Lviv City Territorial Election Commission decided to postpone the first meeting of the new City Council from December 3 to November 24.
This was reported by the mayor of Lviv Andrey Sadovoy, who previously won yesterday's mayoral election. In his opinion, changing the timing of the first session is an "attempt to usurp power."
"What does it mean? With the swearing-in of the new council, the city mayor remains a plenipotentiary. The newly elected mayor will not be sworn in tomorrow, as there is a legal deadline for counting votes, potential complaints and lawsuits. Therefore, the new council will start work without a new head," Sadovoy wrote on his Facebook page.
According to him, in such a semi-legitimate state, the council can operate for several weeks, "they will elect the governing bodies: the presidium, the chief executive officer. of the mayor, deputy mayors, members of the executive committee, heads of the commission, etc., to make any other decision - agree on the budget, property issues, and so on. The city mayor will then be responsible for all these decisions," said the city mayor.
Sadovoi considers this decision "absolutely illegal", since "the electoral process of deputies in the city council of Lviv ended on November 19, and the commission has no right to make any decisions on this topic."
"It's shameful that the decision of the TEC was lobbied by the deputy from the EU, Sergey Ivakh, a well-known patron of scandalous construction scams. Having lost the election of the mayor, local businessmen from the Kozlovsky-Pups clan decided to seize power under the carpet, by nightly "loops".
I read today's congratulations from my opponent. I will believe that it was sincere when Oleg Mykhailovych's party (candidate from "European Solidarity" - ed.) stops the demand publicly and cynically wipes its feet against the will of Lviv residents," the city mayor noted.
