The European Union is ready to introduce new sanctions in case Russia deploys tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. The head of the foreign policy service of the European Union also stated that Minsk "can still stop it"
This was announced on Sunday by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
"Belarus can still stop it, it's their choice. The EU is ready to respond with further sanctions," he wrote on Twitter.
Borrell also called the placement of Russian nuclear weapons by Belarus "an escalation and a threat to European security."
Former President of Russia Vladimir Putin stated that the Russian Federation, at the request of the Belarusian side, will place its tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, as the USA has been doing for a long time on the territory of its allies.
