The outstanding Odessa writer Bohdan Sushinsky has passed away. This was reported in the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Odessa City Council.
Bohdan Ivanovich was born in 1946 in Sambor, Lviv region. In 1969, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Philology of the Odessa State University named after I. Mechnikov, after which he stayed in Odessa.
From 1990 to 2002, Sushinsky headed the board of the Odessa Organization of the Union of Writers of Ukraine. He was an academician of the International Academy of Sciences, Education, Industry and Arts under UNESCO. He constantly appeared in the press as a writer, publicist and scientist.
Peru Sushinsky owns a unique two-volume monograph "Cossack leaders of Ukraine." The history of Ukraine in the images of its leaders and commanders of the XV-XIX centuries", which tells about 205 hetmans, a detachment of atamans and commanders of the Cossack troops. For this work, he was the first to be awarded the International Literary Prize of the Ukrainian Cossacks "Knight's Feather".
For the novels "On the Edge of the Sword", "The French Campaign", "The Bonfires of Flanders" and "The Warrior's Way", which, in particular, depicted the participation of Ukrainian Cossacks led by Ivan Sirko in the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) on the side of France, Sushinsky received the international prize named after A. Dumas.

Bohdan Sushinsky is a laureate of the literary prizes named after I. Mazepa, named after I. Bunin, named after N. Trublaina, named after E. Bagrytskyi, and the Arkady literary prize. In 2002, Sushinsky was awarded the Gold Medal of Honor by the American Biographical Institute for his outstanding contribution to the development of national and world culture. He was also the official adviser of this institute.
