Three quarters of Ukrainians support fines for violating the mask regime - poll

48% of Ukrainians consider the measures introduced by the authorities to fight the coronavirus to be optimal, 24% consider them too soft, 11% - too strict

48% of Ukrainians consider the measures introduced by the authorities to combat the coronavirus to be optimal, 24% consider them too soft, 11% too strict, according to the results of a survey by the Rating Sociological Group conducted on November 15-17.

75% of respondents support the introduction of fines for being in public places and transport without masks, 24% are against it. Fines are more often supported by women and the elderly, the highest support in Kyiv, the least in the South.

83% of respondents said that they often wear a protective mask, 14% — sometimes or rarely, 3% — almost never. 70% often disinfect their hands, 23% — sometimes or rarely, 6% — almost never. Only 14% often use protective gloves, 33% — sometimes or rarely, 53% — almost never. Compared to March, the frequent use of masks has increased significantly (from 58 to 83%), and the use of protective gloves has significantly decreased (from 38 to 14%).

85% know that the government has introduced a "weekend quarantine", 15% have heard something or are hearing about it for the first time.

The attitude to the introduction of "day off quarantine" is polar: half of those polled support it, and the same number are against it. At the same time, only 35% expect that as a result of the implementation of the project, the spread of the coronavirus will decrease, while 62% do not agree with it.

61% of respondents consider the introduction of a "hard quarantine" (lockdown) inexpedient, 36% support it. At the same time, its effectiveness is estimated to be much higher than the "weekend quarantine": 55% believe that the spread of the coronavirus will decrease as a result of the lockdown, 42% have the opposite opinion.

Almost 70% of the respondents are very worried about the fact that someone close to them will get the coronavirus. At the same time, almost twice as many respondents worry about their own health. Since March, the number of those who are very worried about a possible disease has increased somewhat. There are more of them among the inhabitants of villages, older people and women.

In the course of the CATI (telephone interview using a computer) method, 3000 respondents aged 18 and older were interviewed in all regions, except the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbass. The sample is representative in terms of age, gender and type of settlement. The error of representativeness of the study with a confidence probability of 0,95 is no more than 1,8%.
