There will be no sharp increase in electricity tariffs for the population. This is the principled position of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said the press secretary of the Head of State, Serhiy Nikiforov.
"On behalf of the president, I would like to emphasize once again that there will be no sharp increase in electricity tariffs, which they are actively trying to intimidate now. For many, there will be no ego at all," he emphasized.
Nikiforov noted that this is a principled position of the head of state, because he understands that there are layers of the population for whom even the current tariffs are high and unbearable.
According to the press secretary, according to the decision of the Council of National Security and Defense, which was adopted at an external meeting in Kramatorsk last week, the government and NCRECU are working on the question of what exactly the electricity payment system should be.
"The National Security Council has set aside a certain amount of time for this. I think that by Independence Day, perhaps earlier, we will see who owes and how much. But the key thing is: we will not see a sharp increase in tariffs. This is what I want to emphasize," he said.
Nikiforov also added that both Volodymyr Zelensky and members of the National Security Council are closely monitoring the situation on the energy market in the context of preparation for the heating season.
"Any requests of players in this area to unbalance energy will receive a harsh response from the state. The energy sector in Ukraine must work stably and, taking into account objective needs, tariffs will be kept at a fair level," he summarized.
