The Government of Ukraine approved the concept of the state program for the development and functioning of the Ukrainian language for 2022-2030, which provides for "gentle Ukrainization". This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Culture, Alexander Tkachenko.
"There is a lot of work ahead. In fact, this is a gradual change in the attitude of foreign-speaking people to the Ukrainian language, an awareness of the importance of this step, and the provision of opportunities for a full-fledged and voluntary transition. Because we adhere to the "gentle Ukrainization" format, which will have a long-term effect. In order to achieve our goal, we need to promote the desire to read in Ukrainian, watch films, talk, sing, etc.,” said Tkachenko.
According to the concept, the Ukrainian language will be used in all spheres of public life.
The program includes:
mandatory use of Ukrainian by officials;
launch of Ukrainian language courses (including in online format):
improving the quality of teaching the state language in educational institutions;
support and popularization of the Ukrainian language abroad;
assistance in carrying out scientific research in the field of Ukrainian linguistics;
support of the Ukrainian cultural product;
stimulating the dubbing of cinema in the Ukrainian language;
as well as support of the book publishing business in Ukraine.
