The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine declares that on December 19 off the coast of Nigeria, pirates seized the ship Stevia with Ukrainian citizens on board. This was reported by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko.
"As a result of a pirate attack on a ship off the coast of Nigeria on December 19, 18 crew members, citizens of Ukraine, mostly residents of Odessa, were captured," he noted.
According to him, the embassies of Ukraine in Nigeria and Albania (since the shipowner is an Albanian company) are taking appropriate response measures.
