They want to nominate Lina Kostenko for the Nobel Prize in literature

Her works were published in dozens of European languages.

They plan to nominate the Ukrainian poetess and writer Lina Kostenko for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2021. The outstanding Ukrainian herself has not yet commented on the initiative.

The issue was discussed at the regular meeting of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy. It happened on March 18, the eve of the birthday of the outstanding writer.

"We will support the candidacy of Ukrainian poetess and writer Lina Kostenko for the nomination for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2022," Yevgenia Kravchuk, member of parliament from "Servants of the People" wrote on Facebook.

Now the resolution will be sent to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration.

Let us remind you that in 2005, the writer refused the title of Hero of Ukraine, which she wanted to be awarded by the then President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko. Kostenko commented on her decision as follows:

"I don't wear political jewelry!".

We note that back in 1967, the poetess was nominated for the Nobel Prize. Her name is indicated in documents published by the Swedish Academy of Sciences in 2017. After all, all documentation of the Nobel Committee has been kept secret for 50 years.

We note that Kostenko's works were published in Slovak, French, Ukrainian, English, Estonian, Italian and German.

In general, throughout the XNUMXth century, Ukrainian writers and poets were repeatedly nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature - for example, Ivan Franko, Mykola Berdyaev, Oles Honchar, Vlas Samchuk, Ivan Bagryany, Mykola Bazhan... However, this was never crowned with success.
