The introduction of a lockdown for the New Year holidays is one of the most discussed topics in recent weeks. While some politicians and sofa experts say that Ukraine can introduce a strict quarantine only from the end of December, there are those who argue for its immediate implementation, already now.
Such measures are associated with an active increase in the incidence of the coronavirus, and this figure may increase significantly with the New Year holidays. For example, People's Deputy of the "Voice" party Natalya Pypa declares that the lockdown in Ukraine should be introduced even before the beginning of the winter holidays. But not everyone considers strict quarantine a good solution:
— I was an opponent of weekend quarantine, because from the point of view of epidemiology, this is absolute ignorance. As for the complete lockdown, I am an opponent of strict quarantine, but, unfortunately, there are no other tools in the arsenal of state authorities that would effectively affect the intensity of the spread of the disease. That is, to break the chain of spread of covid, and, as a result, to reduce morbidity and mortality, - Sergey Kravchenko, head of the National Medical Chamber, told the ElitExpert agency.
While the final decision has not been made and the norms and restrictions have not been established, however, many experts and officials are now expressing their forecasts and their attitude to the introduction of a strict quarantine. There are other additions - for example, the intellectual quarantine - it differs from the adaptive one and the option of a day off - after an hour it became clear that the introduction of restrictions should be done differently in each region.
— The government declares a certain intellectual lockdown. That is, not the full lockdown that was in the spring, but such a one... corrected for the realities of each region, in particular, public transport, work established, — David Arahamia, head of the "Servant of the People" faction, notes.
There are active discussions about when quarantine will be introduced: while some talk about the dates from December 23 or 24 to January 15, others talk about the threshold of morbidity. Thus, the head of the Ministry of Health, Maksym Stepanov, noted that a lockdown will be introduced in Ukraine if the daily number of infected people reaches 30 people. But what is this figure based on?
— There are no calculations, the figures are taken from the ceiling. At the moment, manual management is carried out, the existing legislation is completely ignored - for example, the Law of Ukraine "On Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare", the Law of Ukraine "On the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases", - notes Sergey Kravchenko.
One way or another, judging by the comments of specialists, we cannot avoid a harsh quarantine.
Lockdown in Ukraine due to the situation with COVID-19, it will be introduced anyway. The only question that the authorities are discussing is when exactly it will be introduced, said the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Aleksey Danilov. According to him, Ukraine will not be able to avoid the lockdown.
— The only question in time is either in December or from January 2. Now there is a discussion with specialists about this. Volodymyr Zelensky already had a meeting at which it was clarified how this would happen. But the fact that the lockdown will be one hundred percent Danilov said.
