Russia threatens to deport 150 Ukrainians

They were in the country illegally.

Russia threatens to deport more than 150 thousand citizens of Ukraine who are in the country illegally. This was stated by the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Alexander Horovoy, at a meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS.

He said that citizens who are illegally in Russia must leave the country by June 15. According to the estimates of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 152 citizens of Ukraine, 332 citizens of Uzbekistan, and 247 citizens from Tajikistan were "detained" in Russia. It is followed by Azerbaijan (120 thousand), Kyrgyzstan (115 thousand), Armenia (61 thousand), Moldova (56 thousand) and Kazakhstan (49 thousand).

Illegal migrants in Russia "will be punished up to deportation and border closure" if they do not leave by June 15, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

At the same time, only last week, the press secretary of Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, stated that labor migrants, whose number in Russia has significantly decreased due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are not enough to implement large-scale projects.

Earlier, due to the pandemic, some migrants managed to leave Russia, but could not return due to the closure of the borders, and some were left without the opportunity to go home.

By decrees of Russian President Putin, the right of residence or residence in Russia, registration periods and other measures to regulate their legal status were extended to the remaining foreigners until June 15, 2021.
