Facebook deleted 105 accounts, 24 pages and five Instagram profiles - the company claims that they were connected to the political party "Servant of the People".
"Although the people behind this activity tried to hide their identity and the coordination of their actions, our investigation revealed a connection with persons associated with the political party "Servant of the People" in Ukraine," Facebook said in a report.
Accounts were removed for violating Facebook's Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior (CIB) policy. It is noted that the people behind it wrote in Russian and Ukrainian languages about corruption, politics, cars, published satirical content about COVID-19, wrote words in support of "Servants of the People" and criticized opposition parties and politicians, in particular the former president Petro Poroshenko and Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.
About 210 thousand dollars were spent on advertising pages.
In addition, last month Facebook disabled another network operated from Ukraine for violating its CIB policy.
In particular, Facebook's investigation revealed connections with individuals and legal entities sanctioned by the US Treasury Department — Andrey Derkach, Petr Zhuravl, and Begemot media.
Some of the accounts were also linked to people who advise former Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman and the chairman of the Doverie parliamentary group Oleg Kulinych.
Facebook notes that Ukraine was one of the main sources of CIB activity, which the company discovered and removed from the platform over the past few years. At the same time, the majority of fraudulent campaigns were aimed at an internal audience.
