The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia threatens that the Russian Armed Forces may consider Western commercial satellites used to help Ukraine as their "legitimate targets".
"It is about the involvement of the US and its allies in civil infrastructure components in space, in particular commercial, in armed conflicts."
This was stated by the official representative of the department Kostyantyn Vorontsov at the meeting of the first committee of the UN General Assembly.
"We would especially like to emphasize an extremely dangerous trend that was clearly revealed in the course of events in Ukraine. It is about the involvement of the US and its allies in civil infrastructure components in space, in particular commercial ones, in armed conflicts. Quasi-civilian infrastructure may turn out to be a legitimate target for a retaliatory strike," Russian state agency TARS quoted the official as saying.
Further, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued the manipulation of the West providing aid to Ukraine by blackmailing welfare in developing countries.
"As a result of the actions of the West, the sustainability of peaceful space activities, as well as numerous socio-economic processes on earth, on which the well-being of people depends, primarily in developing countries, are exposed to unjustified risks," said Vorontsov.
