On Friday, September 9, the Council of the EU approved the complete suspension of the agreement on the simplified visa regime with Russia.
This is reported on the website of the Council of the EU.
Therefore, the general rules of the visa code will apply to citizens of the Russian Federation:
- the visa fee will increase from 35 to 80 euros
- visa issuance times will increase to 15 days, in some cases to 45 days.
- It will become much more difficult for Russians to get long-term and multiple-entry visas.
- it is necessary to provide more supporting documents - Russians will no longer be able to limit themselves to documents according to a simplified list.
Most likely, Russians who already have multiple visas will still be able to enter EU countries before their validity expires.
The decision is expected to be published in the Official Journal on Friday, September 9, take effect on the day of its adoption, and apply from Monday, September 12.
