Russian President Vladimir Putin called the transfer of cluster munitions from the USA to Ukraine a "crime".
"When the use of cluster munitions was called a crime by the US administration itself. Here, I think, this should be treated as such," Putin commented on the American supply of such projectiles to Ukraine.
According to him, the US is supplying cluster ammunition allegedly due to a shortage of other projectiles both in the US and in Europe.
"Let me remind you that the Ukrainian army spends up to 5-6 thousand, let's say, 155 caliber shells per day of combat, while the USA produces 15 thousand per month, they don't have enough and Europe already doesn't have enough. But they did not find anything better than to propose the use of cluster munitions," said the Russian president.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russian troops will start using cluster munitions if they are used by the Armed Forces. He also noted that Russia allegedly did not use these shells in the war in Ukraine.
"I want to say that Russia has a sufficient supply of various types of cluster munitions, of various types. Until now, we have not done it, we have not used it, and we have not had such a need, despite a certain shortage in a certain period of time and we also have ammunition, but we have not done it. But, of course, if they are used against us, we reserve the right to mirror actions," he said.
