According to journalists, the reason for Scholz's dismissal may be a scandal related to the German payment system Wirecard and its former head Jan Marsalek. As the authors of the publication note, in 2020, Scholz was the finance minister of Germany and did not notice a large fraudulent scheme, as a result of which Wirecard went bankrupt.
It is reported that the Ministry of Economy of Germany rejected the call to make public the contents of the meetings between Marsalek and representatives of the department. Scholz himself denies his personal responsibility for the financial scandal.
According to the media, Marsalek, who is wanted by Interpol, is currently under the protection of the FSB special services and is in Moscow. The publication notes that as early as 2020, evidence leaked from inside the company that Marsalek did not hide his connections with Russian special services and even bragged about what "Novachok" could get.
It is reported that Scholz's successor may be Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius, who recently took first place in the ranking of the most popular German politicians.
