Odessa residents voted to dismantle the monument to Catherine II

Then his fate will be decided by the deputies of the city council

On November 5, the results of the voting on the "Socially Active Citizen" platform regarding the future fate of the monument to the Founders of Odessa (Catherine II) were summarized.

"Despite the war going on in our country, we managed to follow the legal democratic procedure.

Despite the provocateurs' attempts to destabilize the situation in the city, our community remained loyal to democratic values. I am grateful to every Odesa resident who took part in the vote.

The next step is to bring the issue to the next session of the city council. For my part, I have already turned to the specialized commission of the city council with a request to hold a meeting and prepare a corresponding draft decision.

First, the results of free voting on the "Socially Active Citizen" platform will be taken into account by the deputies of the city council, who will make the final decision. Personally, I will vote "For" the dismantling of the monument and its transfer to the park of the Imperial and Soviet past, about the idea of which I talked about several months ago. In the near future, the final point will be put in this issue - within the framework of generally accepted democratic norms and current Ukrainian legislation," Trukhanov said.

As the mayor of Odesa, Genadiy Trukhanov, said, the majority of Odesa residents voted for the idea of dismantling the monument from Catherine Square.
