Elections cannot be held in Ukraine next year — Arahamiya

Neither presidential nor parliamentary nor local elections can be held in Ukraine

The leader of the "Servant of the People" faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Davyd Arakhamia, believes that neither presidential, nor parliamentary, nor local elections can be held in Ukraine next year. That's what he's about Told me in an interview with Natalia Moseychuk.

According to him, no one in the West is putting pressure on the Ukrainian authorities with the demand to hold any elections in conditions of war. They perfectly understand the difficulties that exist with holding elections in Ukraine during the war.

"When you just get down to the specifics, you say: how will the military vote or run for office, and how will 6 million people abroad cast their votes, and how to do it so that there is no air raid alert all day... They have no answer. No one really has an answer to these questions. And they say: well, well, work as they used to work," — summed up David Arahamiya.

At the same time, Arahamiya explained where such rumors came from.

"There were a few politicians who said that 'you may have to sit down at the negotiating table with the Russians or with someone else... and then, if you are conditionally illegitimate, then you may have such questions, maybe you have to hold elections ". That was the discussion," — he described the situation.

The entire leadership of Ukraine - both military and political - is in favor of fighting

"Why? Because we cannot sit down at the negotiating table now. We have a very bad negotiating position. What are we going to sit down for now? Where we stay [on the front line] let's just finish? Do you think that Ukrainian society will accept this?" Arahamia asked.

According to him, any agreements, except for a complete victory, should go through a referendum.

""If there is an organic ending, as in Korea, where nothing was signed, then it is possible. And if someone signs something, and then it has to be ratified in the parliament, the parliament will simply kill each other. There will be very polar views. And such things, I believe, should be done only through a referendum. When the people say that it is necessary, I will do it regardless - I will simply push my opinion away and do as the people say. And if the deputies decide, I do not feel in myself the strength to decide, and even more so to campaign for someone. Because this issue is individual every citizen. I don't understand how it can be done, to be honest".
