Kyryll Budanov made a new statement about the war in Ukraine

The situation on the battlefields of the Russian-Ukrainian war is currently difficult, but not critical

The situation on the battlefields of the Russian-Ukrainian war is currently difficult, but not critical. This was reported by the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyryll Budanov, in an interview with a French publication Liberation.

"Bad (situation at the front, ed.), but not critical. Indeed, there is a shortage of shells, and there are objective reasons for this. We have two years of high-intensity war, and a total of ten years of conflict. Therefore, the problem we feel is logical. The volumes provided to us by our partners are insufficient to cover our needs, as well as our industry," — said Budanov.

According to the head of the GUR, currently the military lacks the most:

— artillery ammunition in general;
— 155 mm caliber artillery systems, as well as projectiles for these systems;
— projectiles for counter-battery combat at long distances;
— systems for long-range missile strikes.

At the same time, the head of the GUR noted that the war is not on the verge of using weapons of mass destruction.

"Our war is not unique. It is simply a high-intensity conflict using the full range of available weapons. We are not on the verge of using weapons of mass destruction, but everything else - from submarines to strategic aviation - has been used for a long time," ― said Budanov.

In his opinion, no miracle technologies will help to radically change the course of the long war - other factors are much more important.

"The question is how to allocate resources, how to use what is available, and how to plan supply lines. In a protracted war, the side that has a stronger economy and logistics wins," ― said Budanov.
