Yulia Tymoshenko: It is important for Ukraine to export the past grain harvest

Ukraine is not threatened by a food crisis, so the surplus of grain should be exported as soon as possible. For this, all ways must work in parallel: strengthening of road and rail transport, diplomatic negotiations to accompany our grain ships with humanitarian convoys, and providing Ukraine with anti-ship missiles to quickly unblock Ukrainian ports.

This was stated by Yulia Tymoshenko, the head of the Batkivshchyna party, on the air of Yedynykh Noviny.

She explained why the issue of grain export is extremely important for Ukraine today.

"Our farmers cannot sell their grain, and accordingly do not receive working capital for normal work. Therefore, at least 50% of their grain must be immediately bought from the state reserve. In addition, approximately 20% of the currency entering Ukraine comes from the export of grain, so the stability of the hryvnia depends on this. And the last thing - we will have a new crop in 1,5 months, and there will simply be nowhere to put it," warned Yulia Tymoshenko.

In her opinion, in order to unblock grain exports, it is necessary to use all possible ways, except for the relaxation of sanctions against the aggressor country: "If sanctions are relaxed against the country that kills our children, this is a road to nowhere."

The leader of "Batkivshchyna" analyzed all the existing initiatives of Western countries regarding the possibility of exporting Ukrainian grain and noted that the most effective is the military unblocking of ports.

"Ukraine should strengthen diplomatic negotiations to obtain Harpoon anti-ship missiles. Then we will be able to unblock our ports quickly and efficiently, simultaneously destroying approximately 20 enemy ships standing in our waters, including submarines," Yulia Tymoshenko said.

The policy added that the European option with "green corridors", or "solidarity exports", allows for the export of 1 tons of grain every month, with the need to export 300 tons, which is not enough.

"There is another diplomatic way, which consists in the fact that a team of Western countries, including Turkey, are proposing to use so-called "humanitarian convoys" that will accompany our ships with grain. This requires the consent of Russia. If this option is possible, then it is undoubtedly also an important initiative," believes the leader of Batkivshchyna.
