iPhone 15 will not receive two important functions

iPhone 15

Android smartphones have long offered displays with increased fluidity, while owners of cheap iPhones still have to settle for the standard 60 Hz. And it seems that the basic models of the new iPhones will not get 120-hertz displays again. Rumors of plans to transfer the entire line to matrices with ProMotion technology have been circulating since the iPhone 13, but due to the limited scale of production capacity, this may not happen.

According to the edition of MacRumors, referring to the well-known insider yeux1122, Apple has already concluded contracts for the supply of displays for the iPhone 15.

Yes, the distribution will not change compared to the current generation - the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will receive LTPO displays that can change the smoothness from 10 to 120 Hz depending on the content on the screen. While the basic and "plus" versions of the smartphone, as before, will remain with standard matrices at 60 Hz.

It follows that the Always-On Display function, which has become one of the main innovations in the new iPhone 14 line, will also be characteristic of only the most expensive iPhones this year. This feature has been in Android smartphones for a long time and even has various tricks there

Previously, Ross Young, an analyst of the display market, shared similar information. According to him, at the moment the Chinese panel manufacturer BOE does not have sufficient capacity. Perhaps this will change in 2024 with the release of the iPhone 16.

What is already known about the iPhone 15

The presentation of the traditional iPhone 15 line will take place in September. Apple has already officially confirmed that all future iPhones, starting with the iPhone 15, will switch from Lightning to USB-C. This is required by the EU law on the unification of charging ports.

Speaking of the differences between the regular and Pro models, it is known that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will get a faster A17 processor, an increased amount of RAM to 8 GB and, according to rumors, they will get rid of physical buttons. Outwardly, all models will differ little from each other.

Previously, several sources, including Mark Gurman, said that in 2023 Apple is preparing to release a flagship iPhone under a new name and with unique functions. It will replace the top iPhone Pro Max and will be called the iPhone 15 Ultra. Later, information appeared that this model will appear only as part of the iPhone 16 line or a later version
