Today, August 17, the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced the convening of an extraordinary video conference of the leaders of the European Union to discuss the situation in Belarus. He reported this on Twitter.
The conference will be held on September 19.
- The people of Belarus have the right to independently determine their future and freely choose their leader, - noted Michel.
Let us remind you that mass rallies and protests have been taking place in Belarus for the eighth day. Citizens oppose the official results of the presidential elections, in which, according to the CEC, the current head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, won. At the same time, a number of European countries recognized the elections as falsified.
