Erdogan offered Putin a unilateral ceasefire

The presidents of Turkey and Russia had a telephone conversation

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, January 5.

During the telephone conversation, Turkish-Russian relations were discussed, including energy issues, as well as regional issues, including the Russian-Ukrainian war and Syria.

About this reports Said press service of the leader of Turkey.

Erdogan expressed the opinion that the negotiations on the Russian-Ukrainian war gave positive results. He mentioned the grain corridor, the exchange of prisoners and the creation of a safe zone around the Zaporizhzhya NPP. Turkey's president said calls for peace and talks must be backed up by a unilateral declaration of a ceasefire and a "vision of a just solution".

The leader of Turkey said that he will continue to strengthen energy projects from the Russian Federation, in particular, they will continue to develop the infrastructure for the creation of a natural gas hub in Turkey. According to the Turkish president, Ankara and Moscow aim to complete the road map and "take concrete steps to implement this project as soon as possible."

The Turkish leader also noted that the time has come for concrete steps against the PKK/PYD/YPG terrorists, including clearing the Syrian districts of Tall Rifat and Munbich from them.

In continuation of the Syrian topic, Erdoğan noted that for concrete results regarding Syria, Bashar al-Assad's regime should take a constructive position and implement a number of steps in the political process.
