The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, announced that the Czech Republic is handing over two "Kub" air defense systems and their missiles to Ukraine. Petr Pavel emphasized that the transfer of two "Kub" anti-aircraft missile systems with a "relatively large number of missiles" is underway, which Ukraine can use immediately, since it has military personnel trained to work with this type of equipment.
The Soviet "Kub" system, nicknamed the "three fingers of death" because of its appearance, is used to destroy aircraft or helicopters. In the arsenal of the Czech army, it should be replaced by SPYDER missile complexes from Israel.
The Czech leader reminded that Ukraine has already received about 100 tanks, the same number of armored vehicles and a lot of ammunition from the Czech Republic.
He also noted that the Czech Republic will consider the possibility of transferring L-159 aircraft to Ukraine. These are Czech training and combat attack aircraft.
"It is appropriate to think about whether we could provide Ukraine with our L-159 aircraft with some prospect and prospect of rearmament, because even they could significantly help Ukraine as direct air support aircraft in a counteroffensive," he added.
Petr Pavel noted that currently Western countries do not want to transfer modern aircraft to Ukraine, because they are worried that secret technologies will fall into the hands of Russia.
"But I know that negotiations are ongoing, and as a result, Ukraine may receive several F-16s, possibly with a dismantled part of this equipment," he noted.
