The Czech Republic says it is ready to provide Ukraine with thousands of additional artillery shells, just weeks after it announced an initiative to supply the much-needed shells separately from the EU.
The Czech Republic has already prepared 300 shells for Ukraine. They will provide a vital "rest for a few months" on the front line. The first deliveries should start by June. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jan Lipavsky, writes The Guardian.
"We have direct experience of 40 years of being a satellite of Moscow, the country that Russian tanks invaded in 1968 to suppress the Prague Spring. No one wants to return to those [Soviet] times, and I must say that the population is very sensitive to this." he said and added that his country cannot stand aside and watch as Ukraine remains without aid.
