Biden called on Congress to pass a bill providing aid to Ukraine and Israel

USA

So far, the House of Representatives has not voted on the bill passed by the Senate

US President Joe Biden, during a telephone conversation with the leadership of the Congress, called for the speedy approval of the draft law, which, in particular, provides for the allocation of aid to Ukraine and Israel. It is reported CNN.

"The President discussed the urgent need for the House of Representatives to pass a supplemental national security bill as soon as possible," — the statement of the White House says.

It is noted that the Republican leader in the Senate Mitch McConnell, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson, the leader of the Democrats in the Senate Chuck Schumer and the leader of the Democrats in the House of Representatives Hakeem Jeffries took part in the telephone conversation with the US president.

In particular, Schumer called on the Republican-led House of Representatives to take action on the aid package passed by the Senate after the Iranian attack.

"The best way to help Israel and Ukraine is to pass a supplementary agreement this week. I urged Speaker Johnson to do this." he remarked.

So far, the House of Representatives has not voted on the Senate-passed bill, as many conservatives in the House oppose sending more aid to Ukraine and want any aid package to include tougher US border policies with Mexico.
