Next year, antibiotics can be sold only by electronic prescription in Ukraine.
Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said this during a briefing today, December 22.
According to him, as part of the digital transformation, the Ministry of Health is going to introduce an electronic system for the sale of special medicines. This applies to insulin, drugs for immunosuppression and drugs containing narcotic substances. Now the Ministry of Health is developing a module for the online sale of these drugs and plans to start working on April 1, 2021.
"The next step will be antibiotics, which will be sold exclusively by electronic prescription," the head of the department said.
Due to the increase in the involuntary use of antibiotics, the Ministry of Health also increases control over pharmacies and changes the rules for dispensing drugs.
"Derliksluzhba was given a corresponding order about the control measures that they must carry out. One of them is that the doctor's paper prescriptions must be stored in pharmacy establishments for one year, so that the Health Service can at any time check the prescription of the corresponding antibiotics," Stepanov added.
The head of the Ministry of Health also urged not to take antibiotics without a doctor's prescription.
