Ukraine has raised the threshold for the effectiveness of the Sinovac vaccine to at least 70%, if the effectiveness is lower, the manufacturer will return the funds in full. Health Minister Maksym Stepanov announced this at a briefing.
"The effectiveness of the vaccine, even more than 50%, is enough to confirm its effectiveness and the approval of the majority of regulators in the world... But we set the requirements for effectiveness higher. Therefore, in the contract with this vaccine manufacturer (Sinovac), we specify the following: the effectiveness of the product at the time of delivery must be confirmed in a placebo-controlled clinical trial, in which the effectiveness at the level of at least 70% is achieved," said Stepanov.
He added that Ukraine is fully financially protected after purchasing this vaccine.
"If the company does not meet these standards and does not implement the agreements, the company will reimburse the funds in full," Stepanov added.
It is worth noting that according to clinical studies in Brazil, the effectiveness of the Chinese vaccine was lower than 60%.
