The Ministry of Health will test Ukrainians for COVID-19 with domestic ELISA antigen tests as part of the strategy to increase the amount of free testing of the population without queues for those who need it.
This was stated by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov on the air of the talk show "Right to Power".
"My position is that all without exception people who need testing in the country should receive it for free. And it is precisely our testing strategy - I am sure that in 3-4 weeks, when the tests that we purchase, rapid antigen tests, plus - ELISA for antigen together with PCR tests, will appear on the market - we will bring the number of tested to 100-120 thousands per day. This will be enough to test all people without queuing," the Minister noted.
The Ministry of Health assures that ELISA antigen test systems are faster, more accurate and cheaper than PCR testing, so the Ministry of Health hopes to use them to relieve PCR laboratories.
