The Ministry of Health of Ukraine confirmed the statement of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi that the tightening of quarantine in Ukraine may be introduced if 15 thousand cases of coronavirus are recorded daily.
This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Health, Chief Medical Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko.
— The number is 15 thousand patients per day. After that, we will talk about our plans for the near future. At the same time, we are not saying that we will introduce something tomorrow. 15 patients per day means that we still have a margin of safety that will allow us to react without a collapse of the health care system, Lyashko said.
He also emphasized that the threshold of 15 new cases is determined by the uniform distribution of patients on the territory of the country, for some regions it may be lower.
According to Lyashko, at the present time, about 52 thousand beds are allocated for patients with coronavirus, of which 17 thousand are provided with oxygen support. So, the percentage of supplied oxygen today is 40%.
