Before the transfer to Ukraine, the boat "Sumy" bore the name "Ocracoke". From 1986 to 2019, he served in the US Coast Guard.
The "Fastov" boat is a little "younger". Under the name "Washington", he has been engaged in the protection of coastal waters of the USA since 1989.
Before sending to Ukraine, both boats were modernized. The Ukrainian boat team was trained in America.
Let us remind you that these are no longer the first "Islands" that served in the US Coast Guard, but are now transferred to Ukraine. In October 2019, the vessel "Ocean Freedom" delivered the boats "Slavyansk" and "Starobelsk" to Odessa.
Also, a new delivery of the 5th "Island" type boat is expected by the end of the year. It is already known that it was named after a participant in the war in the East of the country, Hero of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kubrak.
