No longer free: in Ukraine, BlaBlaCar has prepared innovations for users

In order to increase the responsibility of passengers and drivers.

BlaBlaCar, a popular Ukrainian companion search service, will soon be paid for by passengers. They will have to pay a commission when booking a trip on the platform. BlaBlaCar co-founder Nikolay Brusson said about it.

"The strategic decision on the transition of carpooling (ed. sharing a car with other people) BlaBlaCar in Ukraine to a paid basis has already been adopted. It remains to decide on the date. In any case, it is not far off - among the options we are considering December 2021 or February-March 2022," he said.

According to the co-founder of BlaBlaCar, there will be a commission for passengers when booking a trip on the platform. However, he assured that this fee will be refunded if the driver or passenger cancels the trip. Payment for the trip itself, as before, will be made in cash directly to the driver.

"The size of the commission has not yet been determined, I can say that it will be 10-15% of the cost of the trip. This innovation will clearly increase the responsibility of all participants in the trip, both passengers and drivers," he summarized.

At the same time, nothing will change for drivers, as the use of the service will remain free for them. But for passengers, trips will become more expensive.
