Zelensky criticized the delay in voting on the bill on mobilization
"First of all, now only stupid people think about their ratings. We will not save Ukraine, none of the politicians will have a future. We have to save the nation, and for this we need changes to the legislation." - emphasized the president.
Zelensky emphasized that the deputies should calm down and "not expect applause for their populism." He noted that it is impossible to clean up the law, and noted that the draft law must be functional, namely, one that will work.
Otherwise, according to the head of state, the Ukrainian parliament, and not the military command, will be responsible for the reserves.
"And this is unacceptable. Four months are already enough for a dialogue on these issues. They even exaggerated on this issue. That is why we are asking the parliament to vote on this law in the coming days. It is very important", - concluded the president.
The council will vote on the mobilization bill in the coming weeks.
"I think in the coming weeks, the parliament will vote on the mobilization law," — the president emphasized.
Ukraine is building three lines of fortifications for future protection against a possible Russian attack.
According to him, the construction of fortifications is taking place even in those directions where there are currently no hostilities, everything is being strengthened very much. A total of three lines of defense are being built.
The President noted that the approach to defense lines is the same regardless of direction.
"Everything is built faster where it is closer to hot destinations. But in about one term, everything will give up. Everything will be handed over in a couple of months. At least such obligations of all three lines. But in some directions, as I said hot ones, 92-98% of the works have already been completed." - he said.
Turkey alone is not enough to mediate negotiations with the Russian Federation
"Turkey helped us with the prisoners. This is a fact. They want to be mediators. But President Erdoğan should know that Turkey alone as a mediator is not enough for us. For us, the format of the peace summit is better. I don't think that Turkey alone will be able to clamp down on Putin's policy." said the president.
According to him, Turkey will be on the list of countries that can carry out a mediation mission.
"The format we are planning for the formula today is very complicated, because we have to gather many different countries. Collect them all, find a format, how to proceed, agree with it. Such a country, I believe, can at least try to force Russia to make peace," — said Zelensky.
Kharkiv is out of danger. Zelenskyi said that the city is fortified with defensive lines
"Kharkiv is protected today. Not from heaven's point of view. As for our defense lines, Kharkiv is not in danger today.", - said the president.
He emphasized that Kharkiv still remains a desirable destination for Russians, and emphasized that not only Kharkiv.
"The fact that this is a desired goal, the Russians do not hide it. The whole east, such cities as Kharkiv and Kramatorsk, is their desired goal. But today we confidently defend the Kharkiv region," — Zelensky emphasized.
Ukraine must prepare a significant number of personnel and have a reserve among the military in order to thwart the enemy's counteroffensive actions.
According to the president, the situation at the front is difficult, but stabilized. The enemy does not advance, and where he advances, he is pushed back. However, the Ukrainian military is also successful and taking steps forward.
"Most of these hostilities, 90%, are the entire east of Ukraine. These are different directions, not only Avdiivka. But now the situation is stabilized, according to the report of the military, with whom I am in daily contact," — Zelensky said.
However, he is sure that Ukraine needs to prepare a significant number of personnel in order to thwart the enemy's counteroffensive actions.
"It must be prepared, staffed brigades that come instead of those who are standing now. Brigades that must be prepared, which means that a large volume of reserves must be prepared. The reserve is not just made up of young men and boys, but of people with experience, who have undergone combat adjustment and have combat experience." said Zelensky.
Russia plans to mobilize 1 troops by June 300. The training for the invaders is very short, but since they have problems with discipline, they may not make it.
"As for the Russians. So 300 is not a fact that this is the final number of troops they are mobilizing. And secondly, according to our intelligence, they should be ready to mobilize 1 by June 300." said Zelensky.
He noted that training in Russia is very short.
"Therefore, I think they will need about a month to have such a volume. But, since they have problems with discipline, they may not have time to mobilize the required number of people by the first day." — the president added.
Ukraine should receive 25 Patriot systems with 6-8 batteries each in order to be able to cover its skies from Russian missile attacks.
"I won't tell you how many Patriot systems we have, I can tell you that in order to close Ukraine completely for the future, it is desirable for Ukraine to have 25 Patriot systems with 6-8 batteries each. All our partners are already well aware of this and even know the points where the relevant systems should be located." — said Zelensky.
Zelensky noted that the results of air defense in Ukraine are impressive, and it seems that there are actually a large number of systems. However, this is not the case.
Also, according to him, analogues of Patriot will be suitable for Ukraine. Despite the fact that their number is quite small, they work.
Ukraine has a certain stock of missiles for air defense, however, with a high intensity of shelling, they may not be enough.
"Today's intensity of the Russians is quite high, we have a reserve of anti-aircraft defense today, but we have to think about what will happen tomorrow. Tomorrow the intensity may continue — and we will not have enough." - he said.
Zelensky reacted to the "harassment" of the TCC in social networks
In response to a journalist's question about how it is possible to return the respect of civilians to people in military uniform, the president emphasized that, in his opinion, society already has respect for the military.
"But people must understand that what is in Telegram channels and TikTok must be somehow separated. Because you are served this "dish" and will be given to you. And you will support it, because sometimes you are not ready to say publicly about the war or about the TCC, but sitting on social networks you are ready to do it." - emphasized the president.
This year, Ukraine will receive 10% of the F-16 fighter jets promised by its partners.
According to the president, Ukraine is ready to fight in the sky and win. But 10% of the promised number of F-16 fighters is too little for that.
"What is 10%? From the composition of our modern air fleet, which is enough to independently defeat the number of Russian aircraft operating in Ukraine. We know how much we need - 10% will be this year. But if there are both planes and anti-aircraft defense, then it is possible." said the president.
Zelenskyi on the possibility of loan assistance: if we were offered, we would agree
"One senator was recently. And he says: Would you agree to loan money? If, for example, they say that the money is on credit or that you will not receive it. I answered: What are these elections for, if there is no choice? We will agree to any option." President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said.
Ukraine was able to find a way out of the situation related to the blocking of the border by Polish farmers.
"We've built several ways around this block, and it works. It would be better through Poland, the transit of some goods would be cheaper. But we have to start from where we are. The sea, the Danube, the bypass work powerfully in our country - we started working through Moldova and Romania," — he said.
Zelensky commented on Macron's ideas about NATO
Macron had several suggestions:
— the NATO mission can train Ukrainian soldiers in Ukraine;
— in Ukraine, you can create underground hubs to repair Western equipment;
— NATO representatives can stand at the border.
Zelensky did not hear from Macron specifically about the introduction of NATO troops into Ukraine.
But if Zelensky calls on various states to send their troops to Ukraine, Russia will take advantage of this. This is risky for Ukraine, because it can stop Western aid. However, no one restricts foreign volunteers.
