The number of owners of expensive cars subject to transport tax has almost doubled over the past year, and the number of such expensive cars has more than doubled. This was reported by the State Tax Service in response to a request EP.
So, according to the tax office, in 2023 the number of individuals who need to pay transport tax is 3072, and the number of expensive vehicles subject to additional tax is 3548 units.
In 2022, the number of individual owners was only 1593, and the number of vehicles from which the tax was paid was 1723 units.
According to the tax office, Ukrainians in 2023 had even more expensive cars (3548 units) than in the pre-war 2021 (2574 units).
Thus, in 2023, the number of owners of expensive cars among individuals was 1,9 times higher than in 2022 and 29% higher than in the pre-war 2021. The number of such vehicles owned by citizens is 2,05 times higher than in 2022 and 37,8% higher than in 2021.
It is noteworthy that the number of owners of luxury cars among legal entities in Ukraine is decreasing year by year. So, in 2021, the tax office registered 3153 companies that needed to pay transport tax for 4109 expensive cars. In 2022, the number of tax payers among legal entities decreased to 2571 (by 582), and the number of cars decreased to 3126 units (by 983).
In 2023, there were only 2079 transport tax payers among legal entities in Ukraine (by 1074 less than in 2021 and by 492 less than in 2022), who own 2927 cars (by 1182 units less than in 2021- and 199 less than in 2022).
According to the DPS, the volumes of transport tax payments in Ukraine are decreasing from year to year. In 2021, local budgets received 158,35 million UAH from the owners of expensive cars, in 2022 - 103,45 million UAH. As of September 13, 2023, local budgets received only UAH 101,52 million in transport tax.
The largest amounts of transport tax payments were recorded in the capital. This year, Kyiv residents paid 33,06 million UAH to the local budget (16,65 million UAH for individuals, 16,42 million UAH for legal entities).
Kyiv (7,85 million UAH), Dnipropetrovsk (8,96 million UAH), Lviv (6 million UAH), Odesa (7,82 million UAH) and Kharkiv (6,3 million UAH) are among the leaders in paying this tax.
It should be noted that the transport tax is a fee of UAH 25 per year, which owners of expensive cars pay to local budgets. The subject of this tax is a car, the average market value of which is 375 minimum wages (in 2023, it is 2,512 million UAH).
