The holiday quarantine, which operated in Ukraine in November, had almost no effect on GDP, but it provoked the second peak of unemployment in the country.
About this in an interview "Ukrainian Truth" Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
"Now it should be noted that the weekend quarantine did not have a significant impact on the economy as a whole. Why? Because very little has changed in the overall GDP. First of all, because it was a working week, when people could buy everything they needed. That is, consumption suffered little," said the head of government. However, Shmyhal admitted that the weekend quarantine had the greatest impact on the service and entertainment sectors, which employ a large number of people and jobs.
"That is, the impact on the GDP of the country as a whole was insignificant, but the impact on the number of jobs was quite noticeable... It is possible to say that the quarantine of the day off affected the level of employment. This is a negative influence, it exists, it is tracked on the graphs. At the beginning of the quarantine, we had 361 registered unemployed, today there are 000. A month ago there were 420," said Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, the second peak was observed due to unemployment, the first was after the start of the quarantine. According to the Prime Minister, the end of the agricultural season traditionally affects the number of jobs in this period.
Also, according to Shmyhal, 440 people have been employed through employment centers since the beginning of the quarantine in Ukraine.
