On March 30, at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, 289 People's Deputies supported in the first reading the government bill No. 4020 "On the list of objects of state ownership that are not subject to privatization." The total amount is 659 objects. This was reported by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.
"It is really important for us to preserve in state ownership those enterprises that perform strategic functions for the state. Companies that ensure the vitality of society, energy independence and protection of the state should not be privatized," commented the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Igor Petrashko.
Objects were included in the list in accordance with the criteria for prohibiting privatization, namely:
— enterprises that ensure the energy independence and defense capability of the state;
— are recognized as natural monopolies;
— the activity of which is critically important for society.
"This is a compromise and balanced draft law that will help attract investments into the Ukrainian economy and protect enterprises that are really important for the state from being sold," said Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Svetlana Panaiotidi.
As a reminder, it is also March 30 the parliament adopted a law on unblocking large-scale privatization.
