The European Commission's decision to lift restrictions on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products will not affect Poland's decision to introduce its own unilateral ban. The publication reports PAP, referring to the statement of Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
"The ban on imports by the European Commission has been lifted. But we will continue the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain, despite the lack of EU approval," the Polish Prime Minister emphasized.
The European Commission had previously announced that it would not extend restrictions on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine after September 15, but Kyiv agreed to take measures to limit imports from its side.
As you know, the European Commission introduced a temporary restriction on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products to five EU member states - Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. They claimed that Ukrainian grain hits their market and harms farmers.
In June, the EU executive decided to extend the restrictions until September 15, promising that it would be the last such decision.
At the same time, the Polish government on Tuesday adopted a resolution in which it declares its intention to extend the ban at the national level, if it is not extended at the EU level. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal responded by announcing an appeal to the arbitration of the World Trade Organization.
