On Tuesday, September 6, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov signed an order postponing the enrollment of women in the military for a year, until October 1, 2023.
"The Ministry of Defense, within the limits of its authority, prepared an order that once again postponed the terms of taking women of relevant professions/specialties for military registration for another year - until October 1, 2023. The relevant order was signed yesterday, September 6, by the Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov," Malyar said.
According to her, the Ministry of Defense previously sent its proposals, which, among other things, provide that the inclusion of women in the military register is of an exclusively voluntary nature.
She reminded that the norm on mandatory registration of women in the military register is regulated by law. Currently, amendments to it are being finalized in the parliament to establish the rule on voluntary registration, and the order gives legislators time to prepare a regulatory act.
