The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, believes that there are two main elements for an effective fight against the pandemic, CNN quotes him.
Speaking about the coronavirus, he assured that there are always "green shoots of hope" and regardless of countries and cities, there is a chance to turn everything around. For this, the actions of leaders and the people themselves are necessary.
"Leaders must step up their actions, and citizens must take these new measures," he said.
He also cited New Zealand as an example, as the country is succeeding in the fight against infection.
"A proper understanding of the basics provides a clear picture of where the virus is and the necessary targeted actions to suppress transmission and save lives," he explained. The use of tools such as rapid case detection, contact tracing, adequate patient care, physical distancing, mask wearing, and hand hygiene have made it possible to break the chain of transmission.
