Hearings in the MH17 case have been postponed until April

Court hearings in the case of the crash of Malaysian Boeing flight MH17 in Donbass in July 2014 will resume in the Netherlands on April 15

Court hearings in the case of the crash of Malaysian Boeing flight MH17 in Donbass in July 2014 will resume in the Netherlands on April 15.

This was stated by presiding judge Hendrik Steinhaus during today's session.

"The court suspends consideration of the case of the defendant Pulatov until April 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. (11:00 a.m. Kyiv time). He also suspends the investigation into the cases of the accused group: Hyrkin, Dubinsky, and Kharchenko, for the same day," the judge said.

In addition, at the last hearing, the court ordered one of the suspects, Oleh Pulatov, to inform the investigating judge in which of the intercepted conversations presented in the case he participated in.

"The court demands that Pulatov, and the deadline — in 14 days, on February 22 at the latest — inform the investigating judge, with a copy to the court and the prosecutor's office, in which conversation, in his opinion, he takes part," said judge Steinhaus.

According to him, this is necessary in order to conduct a linguistic examination of these conversations.

Let us remind you that on July 17, 2014, a Boeing 777 of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down in eastern Ukraine.

In 2018, on May 24, the Joint Investigation Team of the MH17 disaster determined that the plane was shot down by a Buk self-propelled gun belonging to the 53rd brigade from the city of Kursk in the Russian Federation.

In June 2019, investigators named four suspects involved in the MH17 crash.

The trial concerns the first four defendants in the downing of flight MH17 — three citizens of Russia and one of Ukraine. These are Igor Girkin (Strelkov), Sergey Dubinsky, Oleg Pulatov and Leonid Kharchenko.

It is expected that the actual hearing of the case will start on June 7, 2021.
