Vasyl Lomachenko got into a scandal with the flag of his hometown

He refused Ukrainian symbols.

The scandal with the flag after the fight of Vasyl Lomachenko against Richard Comma continues to gather momentum.

After the fight, the 33-year-old boxer draped the flag of his hometown of Belgorod-Dnestrovsky on himself and refused the Ukrainian symbols.

The red and yellow flag on the shoulders of the boxer in New York was even mistaken for Spanish, and users of social networks were outraged by such an act and doubted which country he represented.

Well-known Ukrainian sportsmen, including former world boxing champion Vladimir Klitschko, reacted violently to the situation. On Twitter, he noted that "patriotism or national pride is a feeling of love, devotion and attachment to family. This feeling is the general unity of the people."

"Vasily Lomachenko won, congratulations, but did he represent the country when he did not use his country's flag? WTF," wrote Klitschko Jr. on Twitter.

Let us remind you that after the victory in his previous fight, Vasyl Lomachenko also celebrated his victory in the ring without the flag of Ukraine. Before that, the boxer regularly appeared in the ring with the Ukrainian flag.

Previously, we wrote that Vasyl Lomachenko confidently defeated Richard Comma and won the belt of the WBO intercontinental champion.
