Criminals on the Internet offered the delivery of cars from abroad and the sale of quadcopters for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, after receiving a subscription for the "order", which was supposed to be delivered from abroad, the perpetrators disappeared, because they did not plan to fulfill the obligations they had assumed. In this way, they appropriated the money of volunteers and military personnel, official sites of both clubs report in the National Police.
Operatives of the department for combating cybercrimes in the Kyiv region, together with employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations and investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police, identified the members of the criminal group, including the organizer and three accomplices.
The stuntmen used well-known trading platforms to post ads for the sale of cars and quadcopters for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at discounted prices. At the same time, their customers were mostly military and volunteers. However, the fraudsters did not fulfill the "order" and did not get in touch.
In the criminal proceedings, 22 searches were conducted in the Odesa, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk and Cherkasy regions at the places of registration and residence of the involved parties. 43 mobile phones, SIM cards, 5 laptops, 87 bank cards and cash were seized. According to preliminary information, fraudsters defrauded people of more than UAH 20 million.
Under the procedural guidance of the General Prosecutor's Office, the organizer and three of his accomplices were charged with suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides up to twelve years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The question of selecting preventive measures in the form of detention for the accused is being resolved.
Law enforcement officers carry out operational and investigative actions to identify other persons involved in criminal activity and check the involvement of those involved in other similar crimes.
