The Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano in Kamchatka spewed a column of ash up to 7 km above sea level.
This was reported by the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Group (KVERT) of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"On Monday, the Klyuchevsky volcano erupting in Kamchatka spewed a column of ash up to 7 km above sea level. According to video and satellite data, the ash plume stretches 45 km to the north-northeast of the volcano," the message says.
We will add that international flight routes do not pass in the area of the volcano's activity.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia for the Kamchatka Territory reported that so-called "ashfalls" have not yet been registered in the populated areas of the region.
