The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the Law "On Ukraine's Accession to the Inter-American Convention on Confirmation and Information Regarding Foreign Legislation" No. 1301-IX, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on March 2, 2021. This was reported in the press service of the head of state.
By this law, the Ukrainian parliament agreed to join the Inter-American Convention on Confirmation and Information Regarding Foreign Legislation, concluded on May 8, 1979 in Montevideo.
The purpose of the convention is to establish rules governing international cooperation between participating states upon receiving confirmation and information regarding the legislation of each of them.
In particular, the convention provides for the possibility for judicial bodies of the participants to apply for information on the text, action, content and scope of application of its legislation on specific issues, for other institutions - for copies of the texts of legal acts indicating their effect or judicial precedents; expert opinion, which consists of the opinion of lawyers or specialists.
We will add that the convention enters into force for Ukraine on the 30th day after the deposit of the accession document.
