The European Union is developing a mechanism for providing coronavirus vaccines to third countries, including Ukraine. At the same time, for their safe use, it is necessary to ensure the storage conditions of the drug.
The representative of Ukraine to the EU, Ambassador Mykola Tochytsky, said this at an online briefing. reports "UNN".
The European Union is now developing a mechanism for providing vaccines to third countries, or selling them, which is provided for in each of the six agreements concluded by the European Commission with manufacturers. As a country, we prioritize, at a minimum, the allocation of that amount of vaccine, primarily for doctors and the elderly population. This is good news. The mechanism is being developed, and I think it will be ready somewhere by the middle of January. The bad news is about the requirement for storage and transportation of this vaccine," said Tochytskyi.
Why the news is "lousy" is not specified, however, apparently, Ukraine's ability to store vaccines does not yet meet EU requirements.
"The second element that we must take into account is that the vaccine will be provided by the European Union through a member state, that is, a kind of intermediary. We assume, and appropriate consultations are already underway with our Polish colleagues, that it could be Poland," the diplomat noted.
As a reminder, earlier ElitExpert dealt with what vaccines will be provided to Ukraine free of charge and how many have our country already reserved.
