Over the past day, the Ukrainian military has advanced up to 500 meters in the direction of Bakhmut. Serhii Cherevaty, the spokesman of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on the air of the telethon on Wednesday, May 17.
"Not having a large number of reserves, not having an advantage in the number of equipment and personnel over the enemy, we beat him. We conduct a successful defensive operation and attack on the flanks. This day was no exception - the Defense Forces advanced in various directions up to 500 meters, liberating Ukrainian land, precisely in the direction of Bakhmut," he said.
According to Cherevaty, yesterday there were 25 military clashes and 12 air raids in the Bakhmut region.
"107 occupiers were destroyed and 153 were wounded. The enemy's armored vehicles were also destroyed: one infantry fighting vehicle, an amphibious assault vehicle, six D-30 guns, two electronic warfare stations and three unmanned aerial vehicles - two Orlan-10, one ZALA and four Lancet-type kamikaze drones," the spokesman said.
In his opinion, the Russian invaders understand that the initiative is gradually passing to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
On May 16, the Ministry of Defense announced that 20 sq. km in the suburb of Bakhmut. But the Russian aggressors are advancing in the city itself.
